A monitor technician observes the heartbeats and electrocardiograms (EKG) of patients in intensive care units or ICU. They typically work in hospitals and sit at computers outside of patients’ rooms to perform their job.
It can be confusing what a "monitor technician" is because hospitals will also use job titles such as EKG technician, cardiac monitor technician, 12-lead EKG technician, telemetry technician or cardiovascular technologist, and more.
We provide the skills you need in this online course to work in any of these roles and break the learning into two separate courses, titled arrhythmia interpretation and 12-lead ECG.
Pacific Medical Training's stress test Holter monitor and monitor tech courses are approved to participate in the MyCAA Spouse Education program. This format works very well for this course because the main skill you are learning is to recognize patterns on rhythm. You will have plenty of access to rhythms in this course, versus a classroom where you must learn at the same speed as everyone else. There are different models of ECG machines, however the basic configuration is same and you will learn this in our course.
