Jun 02, 2023 --June's first week is CPR and AED week when a cardiac arrest survivor reunited with his rescuers emphasizing the vital role of prompt action in emergencies. He expressed gratitude towards the Lafayette Police Department and Acadian Ambulance Services who saved his life through their swift actions. Certificates were awarded to Cpl. Brandon Dugas and Sgt. Wayne Griffin. Acadian Ambulance Services emphasized the importance of CPR and advocated for its training and awareness.
May 09, 2022 --Sgt. Stephen Rhodes saw a 21-foot boat overturned while patrolling. Nine people were rescued from that boat aided by Louisiana Wildlife agent and good Samaritans. Rhodes found a 7-year-old girl underwater and revived her by CPR. She was then flown to Children’s Hospital in New Orleans. Rhodes and helpers were praised for their swift action.
Sep 30, 2016 --Frefighters responded to a house fire and were told that a baby was inside the house. The fire crew was able to figure out where the child was from the outside of the house. When the 1-year-old boy was removed from the home CPR was started immediately. When the EMTs arrived the child was conscious and breathing on his own. He was taken to the hospital and is recovering from the incident.
Aug 18, 2016 --A military laboratory technician was the hero of the day. That’s the moniquer Kimberly Farmer received the day she got out of work and went to his local convenience store and found an employee of said store yelling for help “When I got there, one employee was yelling to another employee, ‘I need help! I need help!” said farmer, finding the manager of the store unconscious in his office she proceeded to take his pulse and check his breathing, finding out there was no breath she began to do CPR on the man waiting for the arrival of the fire department five minutes later, the worker was then, transported to the hospital where he remained in intensive cared until he was stabilized, Kimberly was given the award of valor, recognizing her work off duty.
